What to Do During a Flood Watch
During a Flood Watch, you should:
- Be aware of the risk of flooding in your area.
- Monitor weather forecasts and be prepared to take action if flooding occurs.
- Have an emergency plan in place, including an evacuation route and a safe place to go if you need to leave your home.
- Gather important documents and valuables in a waterproof container.
- Elevate furniture and appliances to higher levels.
- Move important items to higher floors.
- Secure loose objects outside.
- Fill bathtubs and sinks with water for drinking and sanitation.
- Do not drive through flooded areas.
- Turn off utilities if there is a risk of flooding.
