Game Summary

The Colorado Rockies defeated the New York Yankees 7-2 on Tuesday night at Coors Field. Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run for the Yankees, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Rockies' offensive outburst.

The Rockies scored two runs in the first inning off Yankees starter Gerrit Cole. Ryan McMahon doubled home Brendan Rodgers and C.J. Cron singled home McMahon.

The Yankees cut the lead to 2-1 in the second inning on Stanton's home run. But the Rockies answered back with two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Rodgers and an RBI single by Cron.

The Rockies added two more runs in the fifth inning on a double by Kris Bryant and a single by Rodgers. The Yankees scored their final run of the game in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Aaron Judge.

Giancarlo Stanton's Home Run

Stanton's home run was his 25th of the season. It was a solo shot to right field off Rockies starter Kyle Freeland. Stanton now has 55 RBIs on the season.

The home run was Stanton's first since coming off the injured list on July 29. He had missed the previous 10 games with a calf injury.

The Rockies will host the Yankees again on Wednesday night at Coors Field. Antonio Senzatela will start for the Rockies, while Jameson Taillon will start for the Yankees.

The Yankees will then head to Oakland to face the Athletics in a three-game series starting on Friday night.
